About this event

To celebrate the 4th of July and the long holiday weekend, we will ride the classic, Epic Route up GMR and over GRR to Mt Baldy Village. Our only water and food option will be at My Baldy Lodge and Restaurant, a historic institution constructed in 1914.  They serve up some nice treats, french fries and pie to help power us back.  With that said, be sure to carry enough water and food to get you to Baldy Village.

The ride will be especially enjoyable since the GMR and GRR stretches will be closed to automobile traffic.

WARNING: It is possible that GRR will be officially closed to bikes.  We know many people who have done this ride and as of this week it is reported to be in good condition for bikes.  If you choose to go against the signage you do so at your own risk.

Feel free to ride as much or as little as you like. You can turn around any time along the route and head back.

• Be self-sufficient, prepared to handle flats and minor bike repairs.

• Carry a cell phone in case of emergency or to get that Uber ride needed every once in a while. (Be aware, however, that cell phone reception on many WE-ride routes in the San Gabriel Mountains is very limited).

This is an informal self-supported ride and not an official PAA sponsored ride. Neither PAA, the ride leaders, nor the route creators should be held responsible for any accident or injury that may occur during the ride. Please ride safely.
